In August 2023, the Department of Women’s and Gender Studies was awarded a grant from the Mellon Foundation to support a project entitled “Collaborative Visions: Leveraging Feminist Theory and Praxis to Address Social Justice.” The purpose of the grant is to establish and strengthen intra-academic and university-community partnerships to work collectively to understand, analyze, and respond to some of the most pressing issues of social justice today.

In May of 2024 we held a retreat for WGST leaders from across the state of North Carolina. Faculty from University of North Carolina-Greensboro, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Salem College, Elon University, Appalachian State University, High Point University, University of North Carolina-Pembroke, East Carolina University and Warren Wilson College gathered in Chapel Hill to discuss common challenges and goals and develop opportunities for increased communication and collaboration.
